MSc, Molecular Medicine, Trinity College Dublin

In 2010, Theresa moved to Dublin for an MSc in Molecular Medicine at Trinity College—and the moment she set foot on campus, she was floored. Societies, clubs, the sports center, a 24/7 postgrad reading room. So much energy crammed into such a small space. It felt like stepping into an entirely new world.

The program itself promised a deep dive into human physiology and disease at the molecular level—molecular diagnostics, gene therapy, stem cell research, and, above all, immunology. The molecular mechanisms of the immune system, explained in detail. Cutting-edge science with clinical relevance.

The pace. Let’s just say it was thorough. Plenty of time to soak it all in. And plenty of time in lecture halls. More theory, fewer labs. A stark contrast to her previous studies in Austria, where rotations through different labs provided hands-on experience from day one. That kind of teaching is expensive, of course—but considering the hefty fees at Trinity, she had expected a bit more than just well-structured slides. That said, the services and student life at the college? Absolutely top-notch.
